Storms, volcanos and poems for the Eagle Rays in KS2
The Eagle Rays have been working really hard since our last post! In Literacy we have been writing about storms, thinking about how we can use devices like similes, metaphors and personification.
In maths we have been looking at a range of skills; one of our favourite activities has been using the iPad to read QR codes to find factor pairs of different numbers. We have also been focusing on decimals, playing a game to see who can chose the biggest decimal! Using dominos, we have also been working on matching fractions that are both mixed number and improper.
In science we have been finished our work on volcanos and what better way to this than by recreating an explosion! We firstly made our volcano models out of Modroc and cardboard and then painted them. We then tried to recreate an explosion; one way to do this was by using vinegar and baking soda and the other way was using Coke and Mentos. I’m sure you will agree the Mentos and Coke explosions were very dramatic!
In Art, the children were designed Halloween pictures based on silhouettes; they firstly used water colours to create a spooky background and then cut out shapes to stick on top. As part of our Remembrance Day work, the children each wrote a poem about the occasion using some great detail and emotive language. Great work Eagle Rays, keep up the hard work!
