Project Aware visits ONE International School
Last week we had two guests visiting our Elementary school. Conny Jepsson and Pam Holt from scuba diver training organization PADI conducted a Project Aware presentation for our students. They were very excited and learned about the impact of single-use plastic on our environment, and why it is important for the world that each one of us makes a difference. The students also got an understanding of what will happen to the animals when they eat all the plastic and other trash that ends up in the ocean.
The students came up with great ideas: Only use bamboo or metal straws, bring our own bags when shopping and put smaller items in a pocket. When ordering take-out food, we could bring our own food boxes so no Styrofoam boxes or plastic bags will be needed. Also, as a student at ONE International School, every student is provided with a reusable water bottle to avoid single use plastic bottles.
At ONE International School, we like to encourage our students to be aware of the world surrounding them. We would like to say a big THANK YOU to Conny and Pam for inspiring our kids this afternoon.
