Pink Shirt Day and World Book Day
This month the Eagle Rays have been working hard! In Math we have been mastering fractions, multiplication and division.
In Science we finished up exploring rocks and their properties and we have now moved on to the Circulatory system.
Students have been exploring the parts of the heart, parts of the blood and learning what a scab is! It has come as a surprise to figure out how all parts of our body work together.
Next up we are going to be doing a student directed study where students are free to choose their own question related to the circulatory system. Stay tuned for answer about “what is a heart attack?” “What is cholesterol?” “Why does your brain need blood?”
In Literacy we have started building on persuasive writing. Students are learning about persuasive techniques as they explore the Golden Records.
The debate is: which images from current 21st century should be chosen to be put in a time capsule and send into space! Not surprisingly smartphones are a general consensus.
Not to be left out, we have been working hard at our PBL topic. Students are working on their festival booths as they get ready for their presentation; collaboration, leadership, innovativeness, creativity, and self-exploration are all key to these lessons.
We can’t wait for the final product. Stay tuned for the date! Finally we have had some exciting special events in the month of February. Our students learned about Safer Internet Usage.
We showed our support for anti-bullying in a Pink Shirt Day and we dressed up to represent book characters in World Book Day! Can’t wait to see what March brings!
