Minibeasts and Zoo animals
Our youngest class has recently shown interest in various animals: choosing two animal related topics – Minibeasts before Easter and Zoo Animals on their return.
For Minibeasts the children indulged in a range of practical and abstract activities exploring the subject with both real and pretend items and we rounded off the topic with an obligatory Minibeast Hunt – and, due to our location, there were plenty!
Since we came back from the school break we’ve been looking at the range of animals kept in zoos and everyone has been roleplaying Zoo Keepers! Starting with Birds, we flapped, sang and stood like them, the children then chose Amphibians so lots of jelly egg exploration as well as more slithering and crawling.
Next week it’s Reptiles and we’ll be finishing off this fun topic with Mammals … lots more fun to be had and learning to be done, keep it up Sun Stars, you’re awesome.
