EYFS (2-5 YEARS OLD) AT
ONE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL PHILIPPINES
The EYFS at ONE International was produced in recognition of the importance of the early years as a stage of development where education could be promoted through play to maximize children’s potential. This stage in the curriculum emphasizes child led, child focused and play based learning, where children cover all the subjects they will learn in Key Stage 1 and beyond but at their behest and following their own interests.
At ONE International there are seven designated areas of learning and development:
Personal, Social and Emotional
Communication and Language
Literacy
Mathematics
Physical
Understanding the World
Expressive Arts and Design
The optimal conditions for early learning are frequently viewed as environments where play in various forms; unstructured and structured, child-led and adult-led, solitary and social, provide the majority of the learning opportunities. All classes are taught in English.
At ONE International School, four overarching principles are considered during planning for each of the seven learning areas: the Unique Child, Positive Relationships, Enabling Environments and Development and Learning. Each of the principles is based on research evidence about early development, and each informs a broad strand of practice guidance.
THE EYFS CURRICULUM AT ONE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
The EYFS curriculum is centered on developing children holistically. If we want children to be able to access all activities and all the opportunities we have here, we have to make sure that their physical being and their emotional needs are catered for. So unless a child’s happy, they are not going to become involved in their play and unless a child is appropriately engaged, they will not retain the learning inherent in the activity. The framework’s basis in play is designed to instill a lifelong love of learning that will ensure continued engagement throughout your child’s school career.
