Christmas Plays
Christmas Plays
On the 10 and 11th of December, it was time for the annual Christmas concerts and plays to take place. Both teachers and students have been working really hard on their performances over the last few weeks. Backstage in all the classes, the excitement was palpable (as were the nerves!) as children waited for friends and family members to take their seats in readiness for some marvellous singing, acting and dancing. We’re pretty sure we saw some of you singing along and mouthing the lines you’d heard so many times during at home practice!
The EYFS children, some of whom were undertaking their very first performance, did an amazing job. All of them were dressed as different characters, so the reindeers sang about Rudolf, Santa’s song was about getting stuck up the chimney, angels sang ‘I’m a Christmas Angel’, elves showed off their numeracy skills with ‘5 Little Elves and finally the Christmas trees sang and danced ‘I’m a dancing Christmas tree’. They then turned into a little choir and sang an impressive number of Christmas songs and all of this in front of an audience of about 40 parents!
Children from our Stargazers and Flying Foxes classes impressed their audience with the play, ‘Santa’s Hat.’. The tale involved lots of fun and games around trying to find Santa’s lost hat before it was time for him to deliver all the presents. Safe to say, the plucky characters saved the day and did so with aplomb, singing songs and remembering their lines like true thespians!
Finally, the Eagle Rays class and Upper School pupils performed a play called ‘Christmas is Forever’ with characters such as Agent 00ps and Mr. Scareymonger, a fantastic spoof on the classic James Bond film ‘Diamonds are Forever.’. The audience laughed in all the right places and the standing ovation at the end of the performance was almost overwhelming for the kids who were thrilled with their audience’s response.
We hope you all enjoyed the refreshments available during the play – iced tea, mulled wine (adults only!) and cakes, and we would also like to thank you all for your fantastic response to the raffle, Name the Bear and Mystery Box competitions! The mystery box winners were announced on a live feed using an online random number picker (video is available on the school’s Facebook page) and prizes distributed accordingly.
Well done to all the teachers and students who together put this magical Christmas festive plays which was very much appreciated by the families and friends. Again, a huge thank you to all of you who took the time to come and watch the plays as well as to everyone who very kindly donated prizes.
